C3 ANDES & COAST
This Enduro motorcycle adventure of 8 days covers 1500 km driving
from the Andes mountains down to the Pacific coast and
coming up again. It is suited to all drivers as the drive is not too
difficult and the
off-road portion of that trip is around 60% on easier terrain.
Day 1 Before
we start our tour we have a orientation session, speaking about safety
issues and other aspects so we have all a safe trip. We also check out
the equipment which is included. Then we start out
on the first 170 km of our trip, driving from Quito to Chuchiglan, a
small Andean village located at 3200m in the Western Cordillera.
Day 2 Today
we move farther up the Andes till we reach Quilotoa Crater Lake located at
3800m. After glimpsing into the water-filled caldera we continue on to
Chimborazo, Ecuador's highest peak at 6310m. There we reach an altitude of
4800m. We spend our second night in Guaranda.
Day 3 We
leave the Andes behind and move then west towards the Pacific coast till
we reach
Montaņita, a small beach resort
at the Pacific coast and also Ecuador's surfer paradise.
Day 4 We
put in a rest day enjoying the beach and the activities it offers us.
Day 5 We
get on our bikes again and move
some 200km
northwards along the Pacific coast till we arrive at
Atacames, another popular beach resort.
Day 6 We
put in another rest day at Atacames.
Day 7 Today
we leave the Pacific coast and head towards the Andes again till we arrive
in Mindo, a small village located in at 1600m in the Western Cordillera
and famous for its bird population.
Day 8 From
Mindo we return back to Quito by way of Nono. The drive leads through a
lush tropical cloudforest region till we reach the Central valley again.
