C1 OTAVALO This Enduro motorcycle adventure of two days covers 400 km in the central mountain region of Ecuador from Quito to Otavalo and back. That trip can be put together in such a way that the off-road portion varies between 10 - 70% and thus it is suitable both for beginners or more experienced riders. Day 1 On the first day we cover around 200 km and depending on the skill level of the participants we ride through mountainous regions on mostly paved roads (beginners) or take more difficult dirt roads passing Cayambe or Mojanda on our way to Otavalo. Once we arrive Otavalo we visit the famous Indian market on the Plaza del Poncho, where you have time to do some shopping and admire the many displayed handicrafts. We spend the night in Otavalo. Day 2 Today we again we have choices of road diffulty. First we drive from Otavalo to the crater lake of Cuicocha, where we stop for breathtaking views of this water filled caldera at the foot of Cotacachi volcano. Then on secondary roads we drop down to El Intag and later continue on towards Nanegalito (or return to the central valley). The trails lead down steeply the Western Cordilleras till we reach the main road Los Bancos - Calacali which takes us back to Quito. Altogether we will have covered 180km to 220km till we get back to Quito again.
