B8 BAŅOS - PUYO The downhill bike run from Baņos to Puyo is the most popular biking excursion in Ecuador. The descent takes place on a scenic route along the Pastaza valley with many tourist attractions. It is also known as the Route of the Falls because of the many waterfalls along the way. It is an easy run, which can be enjoyed by anybody in fair physical shape. B8 : 1 Day Day 1 We start in the morning from the town of Baņos, biking on an asphalt road to our first stop, the waterfall of Agoyan, which is located 30 minutes down the road, just before the tunnels. Entering the tunnel, the asphalt turns to a narrow gravel road with many curves. Our next stop is the cable car, just outside Rio Verde. This motorized cable car stretches across the gorge and is the longest one in Ecuador. On the other side we visit a small waterfall and return then by car back to our bikes. After 20 minutes on the bike we reach the town of Rio Verde, where we stop to visit the impressive waterfall of Pailon del Diablo. After this excursion on foot we get biking again descending down to Rio Negro, where the asphalt road begins again. This small village is 30 km from Baņos and for many the final destination as after 5 hours of biking and excursions, many like to return. For others who like to go on, Puyo is another 30 km farther down the road, which they should reach in 2 1/2 hours of biking.
