Visa
There is no Visa requirement for most
tourists for entering Ecuador. Passing the immigration you get a stamp in your passport telling
the days you may stay in the country. 90 days is the maximum allowed.
Communications
Regular long distance phone calls are still expensive although rates
dropped to around $0.50 a minute. Use the many Internet cafes found in
the city. You can phone for the half to one third of the price using
Net2phone. One hour of surfing the Internet costs around $1.
Cash or Credit cards
You will have problems in paying your entire visit just with credit
cards. Take enough cash and / or Traveler's checks with you ..... for

Mailing postcards
to USA cost $0.95 and to Europe $1.05 and arrive in a week. It is
hard to buy stamps and almost impossible to find mail boxes. You have to
use the post office to send them and you might as well use the one at
Mitad del Mundo where you get the famous Middle of the world stamp.
Vaccinations
There are no vaccinations requirements for Ecuador but if you plan
to visit the tropical coast or Amazon you might get some ........ for

Apart from the national newspapers in Spanish, with the best
being El Comercio in Quito and El Universo in Guayaquil, you find some English
ones in the major centers. The cheapest is the Miami Herald
International at $0.60 as it is printed in the country. Others you find
are New Herald Tribune, USA Today, Newsweek and Times.
