Alcedo Volcano is the region where still most Giant
Tortoises live in the wild. Most of the time is spend on the slopes,
where food is more plentful than in the drier coastal regions.
On the lava shore, marine iguanas and sea birds
like the brown pelicans are always
present.
Yellow Cordia is a very
common tree or shrub encountered
in the archipelago. It grows in the dry coastal zone and in the
higher moister regions of the islands.
Galapagos cotton is an endemic specie and has one of the most beautiful flowers in the isles.
Insects like moths and carpenter bees are necessary
for flower pollination.
