Tortuga Bay is a beautiful white sand beach, great for swimming and even surfing, lying just outside of Puerto Ayora.
Shore birds like Whimbrels and Ruddy Turnstone frequent the white ocean beach in search of food..

A salt tolerant low growing plant of the Ipomea family  invades the beach.
 A small sheltered bay without any major waves is great for swimmers and birds like the Great Blue Heron alike.
   A forest of the Prickly Pear Cactus on higher land between the bay and open beach. Red Mangrove growing near the ocean beach.
A flock of sanderlings wading in the salt lagoon farther to the back from the sheltered bay.
Lava Gulls are endemic to the Galapagos and although small in numbers often encountered along the shores.
