Sunrise over Puerto Baquerizo Moreno, major town on San Cristobal
island with a population of some 8000 people, which also serves as capital of the
Galapagos province.
It is also amajor tourist center with an airport and some boat companies start their cruises there.
Sea lions play in the harbor showing offf with
acrobatic jumps.
The newer Nature Interpretation Center just
outside the town has an interesting display of the geological, geographical and
historical facts of the Galapagos islands.
Maps and photos explain the isles and
the center is surrounded by dry tropical plants.
A trail behind the center leads to Frigate
Hill, a nesting site for those birds.
The candelabra cactus sticks out among the other plants as being easily
recognized.
Another day gone by really fast and sun is
setting already over the beautiful natural harbor of Puerto
Baquerizo Moreno.
