Yuturi Lodge
is located east of the town of Coca, 180 km downriver
of the River Napo and then a few kilometers up the
River Yuturi. The camp consists of 15 cabins, built in the traditional style of the
Quichua Indians, who populate that area. The cabins offer accommodations for 2
to 3 people and have a private bathroom with toilet, sink and shower
(warm but not hot water). A larger main building with an upstairs
viewing room serves as the dining area and for meeting fellow tourists.
Electricity is provided by a diesel generator and you have light in your
cabins till 10 pm.
Tour
programs:
The tours start in
Coca at the Hotel Oasis at around 1 pm and end there again at around
11am (if you arrive by air, you will be picked up and brought back to
the airport). Transport in fast motorized boats from Coca to the lodge
(4 to 5 hours to reach the lodge depending on the water level of the
rivers) and back, accommodations and meals at the lodge, native guides
and English interpreters are included.
Note:
As that lodge is so far from Coca, the days are fixed on Monday and
Friday for the start and end of the tour. In case you like to visit it
on different days you have to pay the transport to the lodge extra. The
last night in those programs are spent at the Yarina Lodge, which is
owned by the same people. You save therefore an extremely early
departure time from Yuturi and you also may add some more days at Yarina
to experience a different forest region.
